Tala Tootoosis, Plains Cree/Nakota Sioux/Haudenosaunne Sturgeon Lake First Nation (Treaty 6)

Tala Tootoosis is a recovering addict/survivor of sexual assault who turned her story into teachings.

 

She went back to school to get her degree and is now an Indigenous Social Worker and author who has been speaking for 17 years about recovery from crystal meth.

 

Throughout her life she endured many struggles, sexual assault being one of them. Tala turned to ribbon skirts to help her take back her power and she shares that healing journey through social media and workshops about rape culture and ribbon skirts.
