Millicent Simenson, LPN (Arikara/Anishinaabe)

Millicent Simenson is an Arikara/Anishinaabe birth worker.

 

She is certified as a Lactation Specialist, certified Perinatal Educator through the Commonsense School of Midwifery, certified Midwife Assistant with training from “The Farm” in Summertown, Tennessee and is an Indigenous  Breastfeeding Councilor. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and has experience in family home-visiting in maternal child health, focusing on birth to three years old and well parenting. Currently Millicent is a student midwife with Heart-to-Heart Midwifery.

 

Millicent has dedicated her time and passion to projects addressing longstanding birth disparities in her community through improving access to Mino-Bimaadiziwin (The Anishinaabe Way of Life). Through these projects and work, she facilitates and supports others by promoting diversity in education, healthcare, and social support services. She is a life learner and participates in women’s circles and Midewiwin ceremonies.
